Far Infrared Sauna Treatment

imageThis hyperthermia session penetrates deeply into the tissues, and the unique light wave length breaks down toxins (pestiides, heavy metals etc), cellulite and fats.  Because you can sweat up to three times more than you do in a traditional sauna, these fragmented impurities are then flushed to the surface where you can simply wash them away.  In a comfortable 30-minute session you can: lose up to 800 calories, increase blood circulation to your skin's surface improving skin texture, complexion and tone, increase oxygen rich blood to painful areas, ease stiffness, aches & soreness, effectively break down hard to move cellulite and improve your overall health and resistance to disease

BioMat Therapy

imageWhat's a BioMat?  A BioMat is a thermo-electrotherapeutic device that enhances the immune system, reduces stress hormones by 78%, reduces fatigue and relieves stress.  The secret lies in the amethyst and black tourmaline.  By emitting far infrared rays from amethyst (an ancient healing stone), the body is encouraged to secret Heat Shock Protein (HSP) which in turn increases the production of endorphins, NK-cells, T-cells, and lymphocytes.   Black Tourmaline generates a powerful electrical field, famous for discharging negative ions called vitamins in the air.  These negative ions facailitate cellular metabolism, enhance vitality, reduce pain and distribute various nutrients and energy throughout the body.  They also cleanse the blood and have a tranquilizing effect ~ also good for recovering from fatigue.

Kinesiology/Muscle Testing

Your Body Doesn't Lie!

Applied kinesiology is a method of diagnosis and treatment based on the belief that various muscles are linked to particular organs, glands and meridian points, and that specific muscle weakness can signal distant internal problems.

Based on the concept of internal energy, muscle testing is a noninvasive way of evaluating the body’s imbalances and assessing its needs. It involves testing the body’s responses when applying slight pressure to a large muscle, to provide information on energy blockages, the functioning of the organs, nutritional deficiencies, and food sensitivities. Applied Kinesiology can also be used to test the body’s responses to herbs, supplements and other remedies.

Tender Touch

Tender Touch is a form of massage designed to meet the specific needs of the elderly (75 years and older). It helps to improve blood circulation, relieve pain, and also increase range of motion. If you are elderly, geriatric massage can help you maintain and improve your overall health, as well as regain certain physical functions that have been reduced due to aging. In addition, since some of the elderly don't typically receive enough physical touch, this massage can also help alleviate symptoms of loneliness or depression.

Reflexology

imageReflexology focuses on applying pressure to the specific reflex points in your feet, hands and ears. Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body. According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into your feet, hands and ears. Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, and depression.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries.  Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissues.

CranioSacral

CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle yet powerful technique that is effective in releasing neck pain, shoulder pain, back pain, and mental stress (among other things). This is done by optimizing the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spine and around the skull. Developed by physician William Sutherland, this therapy provides a very soothing, relaxing and  healing experience.

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, Lymphatic Drainage can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness.

Polarity Therapy

Polarity Therapy is a type of bodywork that focuses on the energy fields of the body, rather than the physical body itself.  It is also called energy work because the practitioner attempts to adjust the skewed energy fields of the body and bring them into balance. Energy work is based on the belief that everyone has a "life force," and that the body needs to sustain its balance for optimum health. Anytime you experience emotional or physical illness, it indicates that your life force has simply become unbalanced. We work directly with your energy field to restore balance and flow to your entire organism. During a Polarity Therapy session, you and the therapist usually work together in a very calm, relaxed environment. And once your energy field has been restored to full health, your body will follow.

Pre-natal Massage

Pre-natal Massage is a specifically designed modality for pregnant women, using various techniques specially developed to help release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, and improved breathing and relaxation. The back massage is particularly welcome during labor.  Because massage is not recommended within the first trimester of pregnancy, pre-natal massage is only available in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters at Strokes of Healing.

Chair Massage

Chair massage is a popular way of relieving stress and releasing tension on a specialized ergonomic chair. In addition to the usual health benefits of massage, another benefit of chair massage is that it is done over the clothing. With seated massage, you can avoid the discomfort and awkwardness that you may feel in disrobing for a traditional massage. Also, chair massage sessions are usually shorter than traditional massage, making it convenient enough to fit into your busy schedule. Mimimum minutes per session: 15
